Seminyak in Bali, Indonesia is a shopper’s paradise for any self-respecting fashionista looking for a bargain. Far from the tacky rip-offs one might expect, there are several trendy local and international boutiques selling stylish finds. But perhaps Seminyak’s best kept secret is the plethora of childrenswear and toy stores that will have you buying another suitcase just so you can take it all back on the plane. Here are some favourites to check out when you are in Bali with kids.

Poudre De Perlimpinpin

Fabulous pop bright numbers that any grown woman would covet will have mothers filling their arms with glorious summer frocks and divine tops and skirts. For boys there is a small range of cute tops, oneseys and statement pants.

Happy Kidz

These super cute wooden dolls houses can be packed on wheels for easy check-in. But this is not just for girls – there are also adorable castles for sale too. They claim to be the original store in Seminyak selling the dolls houses and the only ones who decorate their products in non-toxic paints.

Dandelion Kid

The French-inspired clothes here are locally made for ages newborn through to 10 years old. Think ruffled bloomers, laced leggings and cotton pinafores. For the boys the feel is a little more street with Vespa-print tees and soft denim shirts. They also stock Aussie brand Coco and Ginger.

The Practicalities

Seminyak is a busy town with lots of motorcycles, lots of dust and poorly maintained sidewalks. The pavements are not suitable for strollers and it can be pretty sweaty lugging around a baby carrier. It can get very hot in the middle of the day, so unless your children are super patient, you’ll probably enjoy your shopping experience more if you leave them at the resort with a babysitter (or a father!).
